The Moon in the Signs

Filed under Intro Topics The Signs on March 24, 2017

In every chart, there’s a planet that can “hijack” your focus and take you away from your purpose. Most of the time that planet is the Moon. The Moon doesn’t simply control your emotional nature — it’s like an infant and relates to what you’re greedy for… what you’ll never get enough of. Any planets that the moon touches are going to influence this complex as well. Here’s how the Moon in each sign can hijack your focus…

Moon in Aries

Obsession with self-development. Never good enough, never accomplished enough, never self-aware enough, etc. These people collect lots of information and read lots of books about human function, but can really struggle to put themselves out into the world.

Moon in Taurus

Obsession with creature comforts. “But why would I do that when everything is so fine already?” is what these people ask themselves whenever a greater goal or opportunity presents itself. It’s hard to motivate when it’s so much more comfortable to just stay where you are.

Moon in Gemini

Obsession with information. These people want to be prepared for every possible situation so they memorize random maps, important vocabulary in other languages, car repair techniques, etc. The issue is that they distract themselves from the real problems they want to solve.

Moon in Cancer

Obsession with emotions. Although one of the most balanced placements for the Moon, these people can be found worrying about themselves to distract from their larger ambitions. In most cases, the Moon is least likely to ‘hijack’ the chart in this sign.

Moon in Leo

Obsession with recognition. These people go way out of their way to be appreciated and acknowledged. And they tend to be a little ungracious in the process. The issue here is that they are looking for validation outside of themselves. You can imagine how easily these people could stray from their true passion when trying to be validated by everyone else.

Moon in Virgo

Obsession with perfection. There is a tendency toward being meticulous and petty. These people want to broadcast a refined, comported exterior and often make themselves neurotic in the process. Focusing too much on the details can prevent the larger purpose from coming into view.

Moon in Libra

Obsession with harmony. These people will do almost anything to avoid conflict. This can distract from their purpose as they are not comfortable asserting their desires onto the world and end up waiting around.

Moon in Scorpio

Obsession with intensity. These people prefer emotional turbulence and will unconsciously go out of their way to maintain disharmony. This can distract from their purpose because everything might be going perfectly smoothly and yet they aren’t comfortable being happy for extended periods of time.

Moon in Sagittarius

Obsession with freedom. These people are adventurous and free-spirited, but become addicted to a ‘no strings attached’ lifestyle. They sabotage themselves by running away from promising opportunities, seeing them as restrictive or unimportant.

Moon in Capricorn

Obsession with structure. These people can find themselves slaves to the ‘man.’ They are rule-followers and expect established systems to take care of them. The only issue is that systems often fail and most of the time we have to take care of ourselves in this world. Learning to step outside of the boundaries of what is normal or expected is crucial here.

Moon in Aquarius

Obsession with others. These people place their attention on others to distract from their own emotions and ambitions. The downside is they put themselves last. However, with a service-oriented mentality, these people generally tend to be very happy.

Moon in Pisces

Obsession with the world. These people truly get lost in the ocean of the world. They daydream about all of the people who are doing all of the things. They are highly sensitive, but easily overwhelmed by the immensity of our human experience. This overwhelm can distract the individual from taking tangible steps toward their passions.
